Commonplace on your phone
Commonplace is being designed to help a few people gather around a book and make the next meeting easier to organize.
Product preview
One experience, two roles
The product preview uses one invitation and two roles: a focused member view and a few extra controls for the person hosting.
For members
The member design opens from a circle invitation and keeps the people, prompt, and conversation in view.
For hosts
The host design adds invitations, a welcome step, and lightweight controls for prompts and handoffs.
Why a circle matters
That is context, not proof of demand. Commonplace’s product hypothesis is that less logistical friction can make a small, repeated gathering easier to start and continue.
95%
of U.S. adults said friends are essential to a happy and healthy life.
AARP Friendship Study · survey conducted in 202575% / 7%
of U.S. adults read at least part of a book / participated in a book club in the prior 12 months.
Pew Research Center · survey conducted in 2025These surveys describe attitudes and participation. They do not measure demand for Commonplace or prove that any product creates friendship.
A calmer path into the room
01 · Join
See the circle and the book once you are in. No organization chart, setup tour, or recording decision between you and the gathering.

02 · Meet
Members can see the question, the current speaker, and a quiet signal when their turn is coming. The people and the book remain the point.

03 · Continue
The design goal is not a recording. It is to help a circle decide whether to gather again and make the next meeting easier to organize.

Interface screens and circle flows are product previews, not a live consumer app. Commonplace is designed to support connection; friendship outcomes must be tested with real circles.
